We found that the 8:1propposed by some – ran out of travel at both ends of the spectrum – instead we have used a 6:1 system that I am sure you will find offers both range and control.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Oval Callout: Place the small block over the kicker tang -  

Oval Callout: Take the long spec 12 and pass it through the thimble and back to the kicker tang.  I usually rig it so that the sail runs down the port side – so this loop runs the far side of the boom to the tang – and the block is on the outside.

 

 

Oval Callout: Place the loop over the kicker tang again.

 

Oval Callout: Replace the kicker  onto the tang.  


Oval Callout: The block should look like thisOval Callout: Then tie a bowline onto the Becket of the top block.

 

Oval Callout: Feed the Cunningham blue line through the bottom block, back through the top block and finish by taking it through the block on the deck to the cleat. 

 

Oval Callout: Finally finish off the rope with a handle at the cleat.
